We are delighted to announce that Sutton Golf Clubwill host the first-ever PGA Irish 9-Hole Matchplay Championship in September. Thirty-two of Ireland’s leading professionals, male and female, including our own Paddy Devine, will compete in an important 9-Hole Matchplay knockout tournament on Saturday & Sunday 28th& 29thSeptember with a huge 9-Hole Pro-Am event on Friday 27th.
As 9-Hole golf comes more into vogue due to lifestyle and time pressures, we are proud, as one of the country’s best and most famous 9-hole courses, to host this important professional tournament. With a significant prize fund for our Irish Tour professionals, we will be urging everyone in Sutton Golf Club to support this high-profile event. Most particularly, we hope that you will consider taking a team of three to accompany a leading Irish professional in the 9H Pro-am team event on the Friday 27thSeptember. With 32 teams, it will be a great day, followed by a big night in the club in advance of the competition itself. Paddy Devine is now taking bookings for the Semi-Open pro-am tournament.
The news of this hugely exciting tournament in Sutton Golf Club will be made public shortly. Paddy Devine, our club professional, is the driving force behind the event. The Irish PGA are fully behind it. Please, keep Friday 27thSeptember free for the Pro-Am, and come along over that week-end to watch Ireland’s best professionals go head-to-head on our classic links, which sets up perfectly for match-play golf. With The Open Championshipin Royal Portrush, The Amateur Championshipin Portmarnock & The Island and The Irish Openin Lahinch, this is the biggest year ever for Irish tournament golf – all on great links courses. Whilst our tournament is not quite as high-profile as those tournaments, Sutton is honoured to host this significant event for the Irish PGA and we hope that you, our esteemed members, will play your part in ensuring that it is a great success.
